Description
Granary Capital is seeking a proactive, results-driven Business Development Officer to oversee client acquisition and retention, drive loan product development, and ensure operational compliance within an assigned territory. The successful candidate will be instrumental in expanding our client base, enhancing loan portfolio quality, and supporting the strategic growth of our Microfinance Institution (MFI).
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Identify and acquire new clients, ensuring sustained portfolio growth.
Develop and appraise new loans to meet weekly volume and value targets.
Promote and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and partners.
Design, implement, and monitor internal controls and risk management plans.
Conduct credit assessments and recommend/approve loans based on risk evaluation.
Ensure timely repayment of loans and implement effective recovery strategies.
Create and execute marketing strategies to promote loan products and services.
Continuously update and review clients’ credit files and loan documentation.
Monitor and report on microfinance and economic trends; advise on necessary strategy adjustments.
Analyze loan market potential and build referral networks to generate quality leads.
Provide financial forecasts and contribute to business planning and profitability projections.
Liaise with internal departments and external service providers to support client needs.
Gather and analyze market intelligence for strategic decision-making.
Qualifications and Competencies:
Minimum Qualification: Diploma in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
Experience: Previous experience in microfinance, credit, or financial services is an added advantage.
Excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills.
High level of integrity, dependability, and professional discretion.
Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a dynamic and multifunctional team environment.
Outstanding oral and written communication and presentation skills.
Proven ability to meet sales targets and deadlines under pressure.
