Fleet Controller (Dispatch Officer)

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Fleet Controller to join our operations team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing daily fleet activities, ensuring efficient vehicle dispatch, and monitoring trip performance. This role requires a strong background in logistics and mechanical knowledge to manage preventive maintenance, control operational costs, and supervise workshop staff effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily dispatch of vehicles and monitor trip performance to ensure timely deliveries and route efficiency.

• Implement and manage preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend vehicle lifespan.

• Track and analyze diesel consumption and other fleet operational costs to identify savings opportunities.

• Supervise mechanics and fleet operations staff, ensuring high standards of workmanship and adherence to safety protocols.

• Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance activities, and vehicle inspections.

• Utilize fleet tracking systems to monitor vehicle movement and driver behavior in real-time.

• Prepare and present regular reports on fleet performance, costs, and maintenance activities to management.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Education: Degree in Transport Management, Logistics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

• Experience: 2–3 years of experience in a fleet management or fleet controller role.

• Technical Skills:

  • Proven experience in vehicle dispatch and trip performance monitoring.

  • Knowledge of fleet tracking systems (Safetrac or similar software).

  • Experience managing preventive maintenance schedules and interpreting repair reports.

  • Ability to monitor diesel consumption and analyze fleet operational costs.

• Supervision: Experience supervising mechanics and fleet operations staff.

• Reporting: Strong reporting and documentation skills with high attention to detail.
