Role Summary
- Design and implement restoration/conservation programs to rehabilitate degraded mangrove areas.
- Identify appropriate species for reforestation based on site-specific conditions.
- Monitor biodiversity (fauna &flora) within the Project area.
- Assess the carbon sequestration potential of mangroves as part of climate change mitigation efforts.
- Educate local communities about the importance of mangroves for coastal protection, biodiversity, and livelihoods.
- Mediate between stakeholders (e.g., communities, developers, and conservationists) to effectively manage mangrove resources.
- Use Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and remote sensing technologies to map mangrove distributions and assess deforestation.
- Set up long-term monitoring systems to track mangrove growth, degradation, and recovery efforts.
- Advise on policies for mangrove protection and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
Role Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Marine Biology, Forestry, Coastal Resource Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in mangrove conservation, restoration, or coastal ecosystems.
- Proven experience in conducting biodiversity studies and carbon sequestration analysis.
- Strong knowledge of mangrove ecology, including species identification, hydrology, and soil management.
- Proficient in using GIS and remote sensing technologies for environmental monitoring.
- Expertise in designing and implementing conservation and restoration projects.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills for engaging with communities, policymakers, and stakeholders.
- Familiarity with international mangrove conservation initiatives (e.g., Blue Carbon Initiative).
- Must be a proactive individual committed to continuous learning and attitude toward self-development
