IT Technician (Audiology Technician)
Description
The IT Technician will work closely with audiologists and other healthcare professionals, providing technical support for audiology equipment and software. This role involves maintaining, troubleshooting, and configuring audiology devices, hearing aids, and other related technology systems to ensure the smooth operation of the audiology clinic.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Audiology Equipment Maintenance:
- Install, configure, and maintain audiology equipment, including audiometers, hearing aids, and diagnostic devices.
- Perform regular checks, calibrations, and updates on audiological software and hardware.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the audiology devices, ensuring minimal downtime.
2. Basic Audiometry & Otoacoustic Emissions Testing:
- Perform basic audiometric evaluations and otoacoustic emissions (OAE) testing under the supervision of licensed audiologists.
- Assist in preparing and positioning patients for audiometric testing and ensure accurate data collection.
- Maintain and calibrate audiometric equipment used in hearing tests.
3. Technical Support:
- Provide onsite and remote technical support to audiologists and healthcare staff for audiology-related systems.
- Ensure proper integration of audiology equipment with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Assist in the configuration and programming of digital hearing aids and assistive devices.
4. Data Management:
- Handle data transfer and backups of patient audiology data.
- Ensure secure storage and management of audiology records in compliance with data protection regulations.
5. Software and System Support:
- Install and update audiology software applications used for testing and diagnostics.
- Support specialized audiology software platforms for hearing aid fitting, tinnitus management, and balance testing.
6. Training and Education:
- Provide training to audiologists and other staff on the use and maintenance of audiology equipment and software.
- Develop user manuals and guides for technical procedures related to audiology tools.
7. Collaboration:
- Work with vendors and suppliers for repairs and upgrades of audiology systems.
- Coordinate with the IT department to ensure seamless network integration of audiology devices.
- Stay updated with the latest audiology technology trends and advancements.
Qualifications:
- Education: Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.
- Experience: Prior experience in an IT technician role, preferably in a healthcare or audiology environment.
- Knowledge of audiology equipment such as audiometers, tympanometers, and hearing aids.
- Proficiency in networking, software troubleshooting, and system integration.
- Familiarity with healthcare software systems and data security protocols.
- Soft Skills: Strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred: Experience working in a medical or clinical setting, particularly in audiology or ENT
