Electrical & Maintenance Technician

Job Summary:
We are looking for a safety-conscious and proactive Electrical & Maintenance Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the upkeep of all electrical systems, critical utilities, and general facilities. Your role is vital in ensuring that our classrooms, dormitories, and service areas operate safely and efficiently without disruption to the school day.

Key Responsibilities:

Electrical Systems & Power Management

• Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems in classrooms, offices, dormitories, and service areas.

• Ensure the proper operation, maintenance, and timely servicing of backup generators and electrical distribution panels.

• Diagnose and repair electrical faults promptly to minimize disruption to school operations and residential life.

Preventive Maintenance & Repairs

• Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance on all electrical installations, kitchen equipment, water pumps, and related infrastructure.

• Support the maintenance of HVAC systems, mechanical utilities, and other campus equipment.

• Maintain accurate logs of maintenance activities, inspection records, and repair reports.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure all electrical systems comply with Kenyan safety standards to reduce fire risks and prevent hazards.

• Respond quickly to maintenance emergencies, including power outages or equipment failures, ensuring the safety of students and staff.

General Facilities Support

• Assist with general facilities maintenance across the campus as needed.

• Coordinate with and supervise external contractors when specialized services are required.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Education: Diploma or Certificate in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Installation, or a related technical field.

• Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of proven experience in electrical maintenance, preferably in institutional, commercial, or industrial environments.

• Technical Skills: Hands-on experience working with generators, electrical panels (single/three-phase), kitchen equipment, and general appliance repair.

• Knowledge: Strong understanding of electrical safety standards, wiring regulations, and preventive maintenance practices.

• Other: Ability to diagnose faults accurately and perform repairs with minimal supervision.
