Human Resources Manager

Role Overview

As the HR Manager, you will take full ownership of the human resources function, ensuring that our team is motivated, well-trained, and aligned with our service standards. You will partner with department heads across Front Office, Food & Beverage, Housekeeping, Spa, and Maintenance to build high-performing teams, drive employee engagement, and ensure full compliance with labour laws. This is a hands-on role that requires a leader who can balance strategic planning with day-to-day operational HR support.

Key Responsibilities

• Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning: Lead the recruitment and selection process for all levels of staff, ensuring we attract and retain top talent in the hospitality industry. Develop workforce plans that anticipate staffing needs across all departments.

• Performance Management: Implement and manage performance appraisal systems that drive accountability, recognize excellence, and identify areas for development. Work with department heads to set clear goals and provide coaching to improve performance.

• Employee Relations & Engagement: Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative work environment. Address employee grievances promptly and fairly, and develop initiatives that boost morale, retention, and team spirit.

• Training & Development: Identify skills gaps and coordinate training programs to enhance service delivery, technical skills, and leadership capabilities. Ensure all staff are equipped to deliver 5-star guest experiences.

• Compliance & Policy Management: Ensure full compliance with the Employment Act, OSHA, and other relevant labour laws. Maintain and update HR policies and procedures to align with legal requirements and industry best practices.

• Compensation & Benefits: Oversee payroll administration, manage employee benefits, and ensure that our remuneration packages remain competitive within the luxury hospitality sector.

• HR Administration: Maintain accurate employee records, manage leave schedules, and handle all HR-related documentation with confidentiality and professionalism.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience: Minimum of 4 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role. Experience in hospitality, luxury service, or a customer-centric industry is strongly preferred.

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Professional certification such as CHRP or registration with IHRM is an added advantage.

• Knowledge: Strong understanding of Kenyan labour laws, including the Employment Act and OSHA regulations. Familiarity with hotel operations (Front Office, F&B, Housekeeping, etc.) is a plus.

• Soft Skills: High emotional intelligence with excellent conflict-resolution and interpersonal skills. You are approachable, diplomatic, and able to handle sensitive matters with discretion.

• Leadership: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and inspire diverse teams. You are a people-first leader who can balance empathy with operational demands.
