Project Manager – Fiber & Network Infrastructure

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager – Fiber & Network Infrastructure to lead the projects team and oversee the planning, design, implementation and maintenance of fiber and network infrastructure projects.

The ideal candidate should have extensive technical experience covering both main-line and last-mile fiber/network support, with a strong focus on main-line infrastructure. The candidate should also have proven experience in fiber and network design, including the ability to interpret designs, identify errors and make appropriate corrections.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management & Leadership

• Lead and manage the projects team to ensure successful delivery of fiber and network projects.
• Plan, coordinate and monitor projects from design through implementation and completion.
• Coordinate field teams, contractors and technical teams during project execution.
• Allocate tasks, monitor performance and ensure projects are completed within agreed timelines.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to the projects team.

Fiber & Network Infrastructure

• Oversee the deployment, maintenance and support of main-line and last-mile fiber networks.
• Manage fiber optic infrastructure projects, including fiber routes, links, ducts, poles and associated network infrastructure.
• Coordinate fiber installation, splicing, testing, commissioning and fault restoration activities.
• Monitor network performance and coordinate resolution of fiber and connectivity issues.
• Provide technical support for network outages, fiber cuts and other infrastructure faults.

Main-Line Technical Support

• Provide technical oversight for main-line fiber and network infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues affecting backbone and main-line networks.
• Coordinate teams during emergency fiber repairs, maintenance and network restoration.
• Ensure main-line infrastructure is installed and maintained according to required technical standards.

Fiber & Network Design

• Develop and review fiber optic and network infrastructure designs.
• Prepare and interpret fiber route plans, network diagrams, link designs and technical drawings.
• Conduct site assessments and provide appropriate technical solutions.
• Identify design errors, inconsistencies or technical issues and make the necessary corrections.
• Ensure designs are practical and can be effectively implemented by field teams.

Requirements

• Proven experience in project management within the fiber, telecommunications or network infrastructure industry.
• Strong experience in main-line fiber/network technical support.
• Practical experience in last-mile fiber/network deployment and support.
• Strong knowledge of fiber optic networks, backbone/main-line infrastructure and network connectivity.
• Experience in fiber and network design, design interpretation and error correction.
• Understanding of fiber splicing, testing, troubleshooting and fault resolution.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and technical decision-making abilities.
• Good communication, coordination and reporting skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet strict deadlines.
• Relevant qualification in Telecommunications, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, ICT, Networking or a related field will be an added advantage.
