Established in 2018 and located in Nyahururu, Laikipia County, Pearl Hospital began as Pearl Imaging, offering top-tier diagnostic and interventional radiology services. Due to increasing client demand, it has since expanded into a full-service hospital providing a wide range of specialized medical care under one roof.
Job Summary:
The Medical Officer will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical care to patients, managing inpatient and outpatient services, and ensuring compliance with clinical standards and hospital protocols. The role requires someone proactive, committed to clinical excellence, and capable of working in a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily clinical assessment and management of patients.
- Prescribe treatment and monitor patient response.
- Ensure accurate documentation and improvement of patient medical records in line with reporting systems.
- Admit and manage patients requiring inpatient care.
- Perform minor surgical procedures within the hospital’s scope.
- Attend to medical emergencies and provide timely interventions.
- Coordinate referrals for specialized or higher-level care.
- Participate in the development and implementation of clinical protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Provide health education to patients and participate in staff wellness programs.
- Advise hospital management and board on clinical requirements and resource needs.
- Represent the hospital in meetings with local and national health authorities, partners, and donors.
- Coordinate continuous professional development and medical updates for staff.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the hospital management.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine & Surgery (MBChB or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
- Registered and licensed by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
- At least 1 year of post-internship experience in a hospital setting.
- Basic surgical skills and experience in handling emergencies.
- Strong clinical decision-making and patient management skills.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
- Knowledge of healthcare quality standards and medical ethics.
