Job Summary:

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Pharmaceutical Technologist to join our dynamic healthcare team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient and safe handling of pharmaceutical products, including the dispensing of medications, stock management, and ensuring regulatory compliance within the pharmacy unit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Requisition, receive, and manage inventory of drugs and medical commodities.
  • Ensure proper storage, labeling, and security of pharmaceutical items in line with national guidelines.
  • Dispense prescribed medications and provide relevant information and advice to patients regarding drug use and potential side effects.
  • Maintain accurate records of drug supplies and prescriptions issued.
  • Monitor drug usage and report adverse reactions or discrepancies to relevant clinical staff.
  • Ensure economic and responsible use of all pharmacy equipment and supplies.
  • Support implementation of infection prevention and control measures within the pharmacy.
  • Participate in stock-taking, audits, and inventory reconciliation.
  • Adhere to all legal, professional, and ethical pharmaceutical standards.
  • Perform any other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor or hospital management.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized institution.
  • Candidates with a Certificate in Pharmacy and a valid practicing license are also encouraged to apply.
  • Must be registered and licensed by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board of Kenya.
  • 1–5 years of working experience in a busy hospital or pharmacy setup.
  • Proficient in drug inventory systems and pharmacy record-keeping.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and with minimal supervision.
