Job Summary

The Stores Assistant will be responsible for efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of a wide range of goods. This includes inventory control, cleanliness and safety of the storage area, verification of deliveries, and coordination with procurement and other departments to ensure the smooth flow of materials in and out of the facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive and forward all types of goods and deliveries to the correct storage points.
  • Ensure all stock is issued and received according to established procedures and standards.
  • Conduct regular inventory checks and compile stock orders based on needs and par levels.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure proper filing of invoices, reports, and requisitions.
  • Monitor inventory levels using Periodic Automatic Replacement (PAR) and notify on low stock.
  • Verify all incoming goods against purchase orders and delivery notes.
  • Reject and report any damaged, substandard, or incorrect items.
  • Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and safety within all storage facilities.
  • Ensure store requisition forms are properly authorized by respective department heads.
  • Match issued quantities with requisitioned amounts, ensuring proper documentation.
  • Liaise with Purchasing for timely ordering and receiving of materials and equipment.
  • Handle vendor delivery issues and follow up on return processes where needed.
  • Prepare inventory reports, logs, and stock movement summaries.
  • Ensure proper packing, labeling, pricing, and rotation of inventory.
  • Coordinate disposal of surplus or obsolete stock items.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in storekeeping, preferably in manufacturing or FMCG.
  • Knowledge of inventory software and basic computer skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent record-keeping and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Honest, reliable, and proactive in identifying and solving inventory issues.
