P.C.E.A Tumutumu Hospital is seeking a qualified and committed Health Records & Information Technology Officer to join its team. The officer will be responsible for managing patient health records, ensuring accurate data capture, secure storage, and timely retrieval of health information to support clinical care and hospital operations. The role also involves supporting digital health systems and ensuring compliance with medical records regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the collection, entry, storage, and retrieval of patient health data in both electronic and physical formats.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of hospital statistics and performance indicators.
- Maintain data security, integrity, and confidentiality across all records systems.
- Support implementation and maintenance of electronic health information systems (e.g., EMR).
- Generate routine and ad-hoc data reports to support decision-making by management and clinical departments.
- Assist in the classification and coding of diseases and health conditions.
- Train staff on the proper use of health information systems and data management protocols.
- Collaborate with IT personnel to address system issues and upgrades.
- Participate in health audits, quality improvement programs, and data verification exercises.
- Ensure compliance with national standards and institutional policies regarding health records and IT systems.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Health Records and Information Technology from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a hospital or healthcare setting.
- Must be registered and licensed by the Health Records and Information Managers (HRIM) Board.
- Proficient in computer applications such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and health records management software.
- Strong data analysis, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Must submit a recommendation letter from your religious leader, who should also be listed as one of your referees.
